The Knight's Cross was awarded by the Third Reich during World War II for a wide range of reasons such as skilled leadership of troops to extreme gallantry. There were a total of 7,321 awards presented between its first recipient on September 30, 1939, until its last recipient on June 17, 1945. The cover is signed by the following recipients, Erich Hartmann [1922 1993] who is the most successful fighter ace in aerial combat and is credited with 352 aerial victories, Gerhard Barkhorn [1917 1983] the 2nd most successful fighter ace credited with 301aerial victories [rare autograph], Note, Hartmann & Barkhorn are shown in the 2nd scan, Gunter Rall [1918 2009] who was credited with 275 aerial victories, Wilhelm Batz [1916 1988] who was credited with 237 aerial victories, and Hermann Graf [1912 1988] who was credited with 212 aerial victories.

The cover has an attractive ink cachet, measures 6.50 x 4.25 inches and is in fine condition. The autographs are authentic, hand signed and the cover contains an outstanding and very desirable grouping of World War II Knight's Cross recipients and many of them are the highest scoring fighter aces of World War II, including Hartmann who is the all time leading fighter ace.
