M35 ET62 ANZIO CAMO HELMET COMPLETE WITH ORIGINAL CHINSTRAP AND ALUMINUM SQUARE BALE LINER BAND RESTORED AND AGED TO PERFECTION. This is one of my latest creations which is inspired by the Allied invasion of the Anzio, in Southern Italy and the German defense of the Gothic Line. The terrain in these areas is rather arid with lots of beiges and dark green representing the cedars and evergreens that inhabit the region. Fortunately enough the inside paint was untouched and is dark pea green smooth M35 paint original to the helmet.

The outer liner band is re-enforced aluminum with square bales and dated 1938. All three split pins are also untouched and original and so the inside is basically completely untouched. I went ahead and stripped off the old black biker paint and used the remaining smooth pea green original paint remaining. Sadly both decals were wiped away by the black over paint. I think sprayed over in a dark forest green over top a tan based and then aged appropriately. The inside leather was replaced but it was a spring on spring transfer very difficult to do (which is why I like to try and think of myself as a professional) which is ideal because it means not having to remove the 3 split pins or touch the inside original paint. The chinstrap is full length and the buckle is the early 1939 painted buckle style and 100% original to the helmet.

Thanks again to all those fellow collectors who collect for history and enjoy checking out my restoration work!!! GERMAN HELMET FACTORY PRODUCTION CODES Every original German helmet produced from 1935 to 45 had two factory stampings punched into the side and rear or both in the rear.

The alpha numeric number refers to the factory location and the inside metric circumference in centimeters. The rear lot number refers to the production run and was used as a quality control measure. The font styles used at each factory were slightly different but highly consistent throughout the war and so fakes or reproductions will either not have these numbers at all or they will use the wrong font style or letter spacing and so are easily identified as post war made.
