1936 excellent German NAVY pre-WW2 photograph album Panzerschiff'Deutschland

FASCINATING PHOTOGRAPHIC RECORD OF LIFE ON BOARD GERMANY'S FIRST'POCKET BATTLESHIP' - THREE YEARS PRIOR TO THE OUTBREAK OF WORLD WAR TWO. Zur Erinnerung an meine sahrzeit auf Panzerschiff "Deutschland"' - complete and fine Kriegsmarine photograph album in decorative binding. Original photograph album, in brown'faux' leather binding.

Upper cover titled in gilt, and with embossed decoration in black grey, red and gilt. Dated by hand'1936' on the inside of the front cover.

Containing a total of approx. 189 mainly b/w (a few sepia) silver gelatin photographs of various sizes, m. Ounted with corner hinges, recto (first part, versos left blank) and recto/verso (second part) to thin black card leaves, with spider effect tissue guards, and to inside of the covers. 35 smaller images, 53 medium images, and 1 large image. Size: album - 38.5cm x 28.7cm / photographs inc.

Thin white borders - smaller images mainly approx. 10cm x 7.5cm, or a bit larger or smaller, medium images approx. Very Good to Near Fine condition. Minor rubbing to edges of binding, and a couple of minor creases.

A handful of tissue guards with closed tears. Please ask if you require a more detailed condition report, or view gallery images closely. The images give us a glimpse into the activities of the crew, both on-duty and off-duty.

There are a number of portraits of officers and men, as well as several of cadets on shore leave etc. The contents of each album would therefore be unique.
