German Helvetia WWII Military Pilot Officers LUFTWAFFE Wrist Watch. World War II, military, German Reich Luftwaffe, pilots, German armed forces. The vintage Pilot watch is from approximately 1941-42. Helvetia started producing pilots watches in about 1932. They were approximately 41mm in diameter and were powered by an adapted 16 Ligne pocket watch movement the calibre 51S. To mark this new watches Helvetia adapted their standard logo with the addition of a propeller. Initially this propeller was static below the name but in January 1933 they registered their famous spinning propeller logo. This watch was fitted with a case made of chrome plated brass and has a hinged inner and outer back cover. It has large fixed lugs for passing through a long, wide strap that can be fastened over flying clothing if required. Remember these watches were designed to be carried over the flying clothing so they were exposed to all kinds of extremely harsh conditions. Crown: -original condition- big size crown. Diameter: 41 mm without crown. Movement: HELVETIA, Swiss Made, 3 position adjusted, runs very well for its age. Dial: Genuine 100% Original black military dial with the luminous signs (still glowing a little bit in the dark) along with the beautiful propeller on it... Signed: HELVETIA and Swiss made.
Strap: the watch comes with a lightly used 20 mm still in good condition military NATO large/long strap; designed to be carried over the flying clothing. The strap was not part of the WW2 and was properly attached to the watch long after the war.
Condition: the watch is in good used original vintage condition, with some signs of wear witch are considered to be normal for its vintage condition.
