A very nice example of an exceptionally rare Luger holster made in 1940 by the firm of Ewald Luneschloss, Militar-Effekten-Fabrik, Solingen. The rear of the holster is marked with a DLU, 1940, Eagle, and WaA727. This holster is in the rare light brown color, with white cotton stitching. It's very unusual to find a Luger Holster in this color, because once the war began most all holsters were made in black or dark brown. The steel buckle retains almost all its original black paint, and the closure flap shows use, but is supple and fully intact.
The takedown tool pouch is in excellent condition, but no takedown tool is included. Condition overall is very good, showing expected field use and scuffs, but no rips and all stitching is original and tight. Leather is not dried, cracked, or flaking. On the front of the holster are 3 soldier applied decorations, one is a Wehrmacht Eagle cap insignia, one German Red Cross Medal, and one is a German 1942 stamped Police Medal.
One retaining bar on the cap insignia has broken, but the insignia is still held on well. This great looking holster has definitely "been there" but is still in great and collectible condition that would look wonderful with your Luger!
