A unique set of inscriptions on the inside of the shield. "LW" is the direct abbreviation for Luftwaffe (German Air Force).
This could be the pilot's personal call sign or an indication of affiliation with a famous fighter squadron (for example, Jagdgeschwader). The metal is non-magnetic and covered with a rich, collectible patina.The text inside and the aircraft silhouette on the outside are perfectly legible. The mesh perforation is free of tears and cracks. The shank has an authentic, open appearance (characteristic sizing at the front or traces of use). This lot has not undergone modern cleaning, acidification, or restoration-it retains its original, "real" appearance.
