Original Gevaar Voor Ons Land! (Danger To Our Country) German Propaganda WWII
Standing tall and menacing is a Flemish Waffen-SS soldier wielding a bayonet fitted rifle while a red clad Bolshevik figure cowers with his back to the viewer. I quote from the Imperial War Museum site. Recruiting poster for the Waffen-SS and the Flanders Legion. The war against the Soviet Union was represented, not only as a German, but a European conflict. German propaganda stressed the consequences of a Soviet victory. By appealing to fellow Europeans to join her in a common stand against Bolshevism, Germany placed herself at the head of a European'alliance', rather than as a ruler of conquered peoples. The Waffen-SS, the'Army of Europe' and custodian of the Nazi regime, ensured the dependence of Germany's allies on the Reich by the intake of foreign volunteers.
This original poster was saved by a Canadian Colonel serving in WWII. There is age related discolouration at the edges and seams and some small tears but no loss of paper. The colours and images are crisp. Its a powerful poster and large at 30 wide x 49 high / 75 cm x 125 cm.
