Original WW1 German M17 Ledermaske, VERY RARE WW2 Polish reissue, DISPLAY PIECE

An original German M1917 Ledermaske, refitted to accept a WW2-period filter, in a Polish canister. Captured M17 and M18 Ledermaske gas masks were often refitted and reissued to certain allied forces, due to shortages. This particular example appears to have been issued in Poland.

Not a great deal is known to us about these masks, so we are speculating on where this mask came from, and what service it saw. This is a very unusual piece to add to a collection; it has been difficult finding out what little is written here. If you're a collector of rare and unique militaria, this is a fine item to add to your collection, with a great deal of history behind it.
