Original WW2 German M40 helmet

Original German WW2 M40 helmet, in superb condition. Complete with a liner, a chin strap, three split pins and a rubber band. The helmet was found in the attic. The shell is in original condition.

The original liner leather was in terrible condition and has been replaced by a high quality reproduction. The liner is made of the correct grades of calfskin leather and finished to exact original specifications.

The liner is marked 56 corresponding with size marking on the outer band. Both aluminium inner and outer bands are original. There is a 1938 dated acceptance stamp, matching 1938 dated chinstrap and split-pins. The split-pins are exact copies made with specially stamped heads and inset prongs. The right amount of ageing was also added to achieve a highly believable surface patina.

The chin strap leather is tanned exactly as originals to get the proper texture and is die-cut for correct sharp edges. All stitching is precisely as originals. The aluminium buckle is stamped from specially made dies. Please refer to the pics for more details.
