Original WWII German military MG34 carrying sling. The sling served several purposes. It could be used to carry the MG in the traditional way, i. Or it could act as a carrying handle when split on each side of the gun and joined together at the top under advancement. Or it could be used as a support when firing the MG from the hip during advancement.
The sling is constructed from two straps with a padded middle section, sewn together at each end. The front buckle is the first model with an external spring. The rear buckle is an early narrow type that cannot fit the MG42 handle. Hence, this sling is only suitable for the MG34 MG. The length of the actual leather is 74 cm / 29 inches. The dual sling is constructed with one sling considerably longer than the other, folded over the ends of the shorter one and sewn together at each end, making them appear equally long. Sandwiched between the sling and the leather strip is a padding of horsehair. The sling is in very good condition considering its age. Leather is soft and supple. The sling has a Waffen eagle WaA proof stamp. Another WaA code can be seen on the rear buckle. Please refer to the pics for more details. This is the actual sling you will get. This is a very nice example of an original WW2 sling which are getting harder to find as every day passes.
