Original WWII WW2 German Junkers Heinkel Luftwaffe plane engine tag Oranienburg

German WWII Junkers and Heinkel factory, two-tag set. Heinkel Aircraft Oranienburg Airfield and Manufacturing (HWO) and Pommersche Motorenwerke GmbH tag. Both tags are stamped with unique identifying numbers. Both are in good condition, showing wear and oxidation.

HWO tag has pencil writing on the back. The Heinkel-Werke Oranienburg (HWO) was a major arms factory and airfield in Oranienburg on the outskirts of Berlin. The factory was part of the Ernst Heinkel Flugzeugwerke group. From 1936 onwards, this factory mainly built fighter aircraft such as the Heinkel He 111, the Heinkel He 177 and the Junkers Ju 88 for the Luftwaffe. Famously, the Oranienburg Airfield is where tests were performed for high altitude flights.

Experimental units and special units were stationed at the airfield, jet aircraft and composite aircraft like the Mistel configurations. Arado Ar 234, the first ever two and four engine jet bomber and reconnaissance airplanes were tested here.

As was the Horten Ho IX - Gotha Go 229 jet powered flying wing, and the Heinkel He 162 Salamander Volksjäger. The Pommersche Motorenwerke GmbH was founded in 1935 in Stettin. The facility was built at Arnimswalde near Stettin.
