A VERY ORIGINAL AND HONEST WW2 GERMAN ENTRECHING TOOL & VERY LATE CANVAS TOOL HOLDER! (PLEASE READ FULL DISCRIPTION FOR ADDITIONAL DETAILS). Formed in 1951 and were military combatant West German boarder guards who still used a lot of old WW2 German stock.
They pre dated the Bundeswehr who were not founded until 1955. It is absolutely genuine and it has been very well looked after boxed and kept in my wardrobe. Its been in my collection for about 47 years now. It is a hard item to date exactly as no makers marks seem to be visable without removing it's original paint. It is however very special, as I believe it is an earlier Reichswehr version, possibly from around 1919- 1939 as it has "folded ears" (see photos). These earlier ones were very simular to WW1 German Imperial E-tools.The other special item is it's C. Late issue 1944/1945 canvas tool holder or Africa Korps. No markings are obvious on the canvas, so hard to date for sure. I've only ever seen one other in the late 1970's from ex ww2 stock, and that was a very late one just like this one.
Efinitely been used with visable signs of wear and tear. Canvas tool holder is in it's original condition from my filming days and showing age related wear and tear, stains etc. Handle has been waxed, WD 40 to the shovel, and a canvas protector to it's canvas several times whilst in my collection to preserve it better. Carefully stored and kept in a box in my wardrobe. This is not a new reproduction made to look old, an old rusty field find. Or a newly renovated item. Stock around 47 years ago. Sorry to UK Mainland only.I have also a genuine " Cold war" West German BGS. Camouflage top, trousers, and other very original. Maybe available soon If I can bring myself to sell it!!!
- as it was from my own personal bits I used in some films.
