WW2 German AVIATION MEDICINE WAR CRIMES ORIGINAL CIOS intel report XXIX-21
Original 1940s WW2 allied forces high-security intelligence report. Combined [British/US] Intelligence Objectives Sub-Committee (CIOS). A substantial report on German wartime research, often unethical, into general aviation medical matters and on the patho-physiological aspects of prolonged exposure to cold resulting from aircrew baling out at high altitude or landing in water.
163 pages, numerous German wartime photographs/illustrations, 14 preliminary pages in English followed by about 150 pages of German "Geheim" (secret) reports dating from 1942 to 1944. Very good in original stapled card wrappers. This large scale study of German wartime research on various risks attached to high-level flight and cold is notorious for containing details of human experimentation on inmates at Dachau concentration camp by Doctors Rascher and Romburg.
This 1945 CIOS report for the first time put the German wartime secret reports and illustrations in aviation-related medical research into the public domain - this evidence was later used at the "Doctors' Trial" at Nuremberg in December 1946. The Wiener Library in London, one of the world's leading archives on the Holocaust, holds a copy of this report; with one more example in London and two in Germany. No copy is noted as being held by any US library (unlikely, of course). More original WW2 British and US CIOS/BIOS intelligence reports.
