WW2 GERMAN KREIGSMARINE U-BOAT BINOCULARS LEITZ WETZLAR 7X50 in ORIGINAL CASE

WW2 (1940) Kreigsmarine U-Boat binoculars E Leitz Wetzlar 7 x 50 complete with the original strap and case. Marked 20116 M and N on the right lens.

The N stands for the North Sea Fleet. The left lens is marked 7x50 E Leitz Wetzlar with the serial number 299842.

The body of the binoculars is in good condition with a few light surface marks and scratches. The two eye piece adjusters move freely and smoothly. The lens quality is good, with a clear view.

However, the outer edge of the right hand lens has a few marks which do not affect the clarity of the view. They would benefit from a good clean to rectify this. It appears that at some point there may have been a small repair to right hand front lens housing, which does not affect the performance. The original eye-piece cover is present and attached. The right hand lens mount has some scuffing to the paint above the M. The case is in very good condition. Inside the inner lid there are four spare coloured lens covers (yellow and blue). There are also two internal metal clips but I have no idea what they would have been for. The top of the case has a metal cartouche which is marked E.

The front of the case is embossed 1940 and Leizt Wetzlar. The strap is sound and firmly attached, though there is a leather strap mount missing from one side. There is a leather belt mount on the rear of the case.

A superb pair of German U-boat binoculars which are not normally found with the original case and lens covers. For their age, these binoculars are in very good condition. The minor flaws as mentioned could probably be rectified by a collector. The items I sell are antique or vintage. This means they are in used condition and as such may have flaws or defects.
