WW2 ORIGINAL GERMAN ID DOG TAG. Token of a soldier of the Wehrmacht antitank unit, in the native patina not washed not cleaned. Location: between Helm and Kovel. The anti-tank token of the 253rd Infantry Division was found between Helm and Kovel, in a place where the division suffered great losses in 1944. The division itself before the attack on the USSR took an active part in the occupation of Belgium and France.
Beginning from June 22, 1941 it participated in "Operation Barbarossa" and "Typhoon", where it had fought for Rzhev from the 41st up to the 42nd. In the 43rd fought at the "Kursk Bulge" and in the 44th led defensive battles retreating across the territory of Belarus, smoothly reaching Kovel, where this badge was found. In the further division fought up to May'45, but this badge was already lying in the ground near Kovel. Judging by the wear and tear of the holes from the rope on which the badge was hanging around the neck of the owner there is a high probability that he has been in most of the above events.
