Dug out on positions of last positions of 290. Most likely the wallet was thrown away by a German soldier not to give it away to Russians. Great item, will look great in any WW2 collection.

Left as found, leather is dry, while drying it warped a little, which is shown on the photos. Scroll down to see better photos. In the final phase of the Courland (Kurland) Pocket, the 290th Infantry Division, severely depleted by months of defensive fighting against repeated Soviet offensives, occupied its last positions in the Skrunda sector along the Venta River, holding improvised defensive lines as the German perimeter continued to contract.

With no prospect of relief and critically short of manpower, ammunition, and heavy weapons, the division's remaining elements ceased effective combat operations following the general surrender of Army Group Courland and capitulated to Red Army forces on 8-9 May 1945, with surviving personnel taken into Soviet captivity.
