Its style was "chosen" and custom-tailored to fit me personally. So I set out to find the "Best" condition possible WW2 Zeltbahn pieces (2) to make the basic fabric of the jacket.
I got the idea for this jacket from the WW2 German Ace Pilot named Erich Hartman who had his jacket made out of the splinter zeltbahn. Except his jacket was from German zelts whereas mine was of Swiss made. Both are closely identical except there is small green line in between the camo pattern. And that is the only difference between the two. I went to the extent of researching the inside pocket details to make my jacket. There are also shoulder loops ready to mount the German shoulder boards. I did not add the aluminum buttons yet. It is ONE extremely WELL and METICULOUSLY made jacket using high quality green silk lining fabric. Colours are very bright with no defects. Again, I chose the near perfect zeltbahn, 2 pieces, to make this jacket. Thus there is NO tears or repairs or fading spots on the fabric. One must see it for himself to appreciate the labor that went into making of this fine flight jacket. It is still, even to today's standard, a very fashionable..... Let alone it is unlikely that one will not see another similar jacket.
