This finely crafted historical German drum is a gem from the past. Such a drum would have been used during WW2 and may have even dated pre WW1.
Such drums were used in parades of all sorts, though this "Spielmanzeug" style was not made by this company till the early 1900's. This example is of large size, is an early make, has unoriginal drumheads from Buffalo (top damaged), with the original brass body and wood frame made by C. The steel rods are in fantastic shape for the age.
The drum has at some point received a repainting reenforcing the original paint. (Drumsticks are for display and have no historical value).
Siebenbrunn was a village near Markneukirchen, which became a part of Markneukirchen in 1959. Markneukirchen has been the center of german music instrument making for 250 years. His second son Richard Wunderlich emigrated to Chicago and run a partner company distributing german music instruments in the U. The company was able to stand the economic depression 1929 because they were well known for good quality: well known manufacturers like August Knopf, Clemens Wurlitzer, Franz Köhler worked for them.
