The sizes vary from 3 x 4 inches to 8 x 10. Mostly, they are privately taken photos, but some are well known and one is a U. Navy photograph, of U505 whilst being saved from scuttling.
The Boat was the first captured enemy vessel by the US of the War and was secretly towed back to the USA. U505 is now a permanent exhibit in the Chicago Museum. Amongst the photos are Conning Towers, with their U-Boat artwork.Of particular note is a photo of the crew of a submarine of the 9th U-Boat Flotilla (Brest). It has the iconic smiling swordfish, that was featured in the film'Das Boot'. There is also a U-Boat captain on deck, with a crewman carrying an MP40 submachine gun and a submarine with camouflage. These photos give a testimony of the crews and merit further research, as 8 out 10 U-Boat crews died during WWII.
There are 21 photos in all. _gsrx_vers_625 GS 6.9.7 (625).
