WW II German Air Force Nitsche u. Gunther SPLINTER PROOF PILOT GOGGLES

30550, as used by many fighter and bomber pilots throughout WW2! Development of flight goggles began with the advent of military aircraft during WW1. In the early 1930's the German firm, "Nitsche & Günther" designed splinter goggles that were based on a pattern that was originally developed by the British firm "Triplex". During WW2, the Luftwaffe used a wide variety of protective goggles, which all followed the same basic design. Originally this type of goggle came in a single piece frame with clear lenses (similar to sunglasses), however as of 1942, tinted lenses were introduced, and finally in 1944, came the latest model, featuring a 3-piece frame with adjustable nose bride.

This Luftwaffe Nitsche und Günther Flight goggle set is in GOOD used condition. They come complete in their original tin box, which features the model and Fl.

Number stamped on the top! Some slight marks and dents on the case, but that is expected, given the age. The frames are made of bakelite, are in used condition, with various scratches, marks, and chips. The tinted lenses show some scratching, but nothing that detracts. The elastic straps have deteriorated slightly due to improper storage...

There is also some rust on the steel fittings. They retain 99% their original finish, but could use some slight restoration if one wished to wear them. Otherwise they are PERFECT for display! Most of my items are vintage, and as such are AS-IS, so you must therefore expect a degree of wear due to age and/or usage. Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft Fw190, Me262, etc. , as well as USAF and Japanese items.
