This was a standard issue item, used by all branches, including the Heer, Luftwaffe, and Kriegsmarine! The field flashlight was a standard issue item for all ranks and featured various colored lenses for signaling or darker lenses for camouflage purposes. Flashlights where a vital tool for night time map reading, signaling with coloured lenses and many other uses. The blackout during the war also meant for a extended popularity of flashlights. Many carried them onto the streets to see as the streetlights where very rare and to top that of mostly blacked out.

Most flashlights where fitted with blinds or coloured lenses to hide the bright light they produced. These coloured lenses where also used to signal between individual soldiers. Brands as Daimon, Petrix, Hassia and Zeiler where a few of many popular brands in the time.

Made of lightweight steel, this flashlight is in GOOD used condition, and retains 90% of its original tan paint! Some slight marks, wear, dents, and scratches due to the age, but VERY solid otherwise!

Swiss-made, it features a Cross on the front panel, and a flip up/down blackout lens cover. Though difficult to see in the listing photos, the manufacture name "ELVES", along with a date of 1941 are stamped into the back. On/Off switch is featured at the top. The leather straps at the back are complete, and the interior still retains all of is component parts including the light bulb! 100% mechanically functional, but I have not tested it electrically.

Would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
